Full-stack SaaS rebuild for an enterprise VoIP platform
A platform provider running critical telecom infrastructure for enterprise customers needed their entire customer-facing layer rebuilt — after multiple failed attempts with previous teams.
The challenge
The existing platform was built and maintained by an external team with limited knowledge transfer. It couldn't be modernized, and the client lacked the internal appetite to take it on themselves. Previous rebuild attempts had stalled before reaching production. They came to us with strict technical constraints: no cloud deployment, no containers, no Node.js at runtime, Debian-based packaging, and narrow coding patterns that had to be respected throughout.
What we delivered
- Full UX/UI prototype built in collaboration with a part-time designer, establishing the foundation before a single line of production code was written
- REST API rebuilt from the ground up in Laravel, brought to production readiness and General Availability — now actively used by the client's customers
- SaaS frontend built in Next.js (static, TypeScript) — modular architecture with lazy-chained API requests, caching strategies, and dynamic table population
- Backward compatibility maintained throughout the API rebuild so existing integrations were not disrupted
Outcomes
- REST API is live, in use by enterprise customers, and receiving positive feedback
- New SaaS platform launching mid-2026 — the first rebuild to reach this stage after multiple previous attempts
- Engagement has grown from pro-bono consulting to a full ongoing development partnership
